A Life-Changing Journey

"The sites we have been seeing are all so incredible, even when I am standing in front of them sometimes I can’t even believe they’re there!"
Forty six Facing History students spent April vacation on an Eastern European trip visiting historic sites they have been studying in class. Follow them as they wrap up this life-changing journey via blog posts and photos. The Facing History program at BLS is supported by the generosity of the late Sheldon Seevak '46 and his family.

Wolfpack Highlights

Congratulations to the boys’ hockey team (15–4–3) who clinched the DCL/MVP Division 2 championship with a 3-0 win and to the wrestling team for their second place finish in the DCL, just five points behind the top spot! The wrestling team's Jeff Gibbons was named Coach of the Year. Boys’ basketball racked up an impressive 17–5 season, fighting its way to state competition. BLS swimmer George Lok ’12 was ranked sixth in the state in butterfly and free style. Sophomore sensation Maggie Mulligan led the girls’ basketball team to a 9–11 record, much improved over last year.

Points of Pride History Contest

Thank you to everyone who responded to our January question: Name the BLS graduate who was honored at the White House as a recipient of the National Humanities Medal and one of the foremost authorities on the absence of racial prejudice in ancient Rome and Greece. Congratulations to Michelle Slade '03 who knew it was Dr. Frank M. Snowden Jr. '28.

Visit the Points of Pride Contest webpage to see the answers to past questions as well as all of our proud winners.

April's question:
BLS antique classroom
Upgrades and renovations have reshaped our school over the decades, however one classroom space is preserved as a legacy to our rich history. Which classroom, pictured here, honors that legacy in a very tangible way?

Participants should send responses — including name and class year — magna cum celeritate via e-mail. We’ll be happy to reward the first correct responder with a small BLS item! Note: Alumni may win only once during an academic year.
